We're so excited that you'll be joining us in paradise!  Aside from the Wedding Events, we have also scheduled some fun activities during the week, since many of you are making a vacation out of your trip.  Please feel free to join us for as many or as few of these events as you wish.  All are optional and we tried to choose a variety of things to suit everyone's tastes.

For those of you visiting Kauai for the first time, be sure to do some of the more "touristy things" like attending a Luau (we recommend the one at Smith's Tropical Paradise); seeing the sights (Ke'e Beach, Kilauea Light House, Spouting Horn and Waimea Canyon are must-sees!); and shopping (Koloa Town and Hanalei are great).  For the rest of you, welcome back to Kauai, we're so glad you'll be making more memories on this wonderful island with us.

Lori and Joseph arrive on Kauai

We will be staying at the Best Western Plantation Hale from Wednesday, September 26th through Wednesday, October 3rd.

We would love for as many as our wedding guests as possible to stay at the Plantation Hale so that we're all at the same resort.  We have stayed at the Plantation Hale twice before and were always pleased with it.  It is a nice balance between ammenities, like A/C, full kitchen, concierge services while still remaining budget-friendly.  It has three pools and two hot tubs, which rarely are crowded.  Many times we have had the pool area all to ourselves.  It also has outdoor BBQ grills as well as Internet Access in the lobby.  It isn't beach front, which is fine by us, because the beach is easily accesible and only a two minute walk away.

For those of you who are looking for additional ammenities, we recommend either the Outrigger Lae Nani , the Lani Kai Resort or the Kauai Coast Resort and Spa.  All three are within walking distance of the Plantation Hale and the wedding day locations, which are at the Kauai Coast Resort.  Also, the Pono Kai, Lani Kai and Outrigger Lae Nani offer two bedroom options for those of your looking to book larger accomodations.

Please see the Travel and Accomodations page for more information.

We'd love to bring everyone together for Sunday Brunch.  For those of you returning to the mainland, this will be our farewell to you.  Please RSVP on this site and let us know if you will be joining us for brunch.
From there, we are planning on a Na PaliSunset and Sightsee Tour with Holo Holo Charters.  We'll check in at Port Allen on the South Shore at 2:30 pm for the 3.5 hour cruise up the Na Pali Coast.  Be sure to book in advance as they only allow 49 total passengers.  We will book our tickets for Sunday, September 29, 2007 at 2:30 pm.  If you wish to join us, you can book your tickets online with Holo Holo Charters and save $15 per person.  Tickets are $95 ($80 online) for adults and $75 ($60 online) for children ages 5-12.   The price includes heavy appetizers, non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, and memories for a lifetime.  The Na Pali coast is an amazing site to see and not to be missed during your visit to Kauai.  The only way to see it is by helicopter, boat or a treacherous hike.  We hope you will be able to join us!  (If you will join us, please let us know!)

After sailing we will, no doubt, be hungry for dinner!  We'll make a group reservation for Duke's Canoe Club at the Marriot in Kalapaki Bay.  For those who didn't sail, you're more than welcome to join us for dinner.  Please let us know if you'll be dining at Duke's so we can adjust the head count for the reservation.  For those of you who are sailing, you might want to bring a change of clothes for dinner...we'll freshen up at the beach in Poipu before heading over to the restaurant (unless you want to head all the way back to Kapa'a and then double-back to Lihue).  Here's a link to their dinner menu. Since it will be a large party, we highly recommend that everyone comes with cash to make settling the bill at the end of the night less of a task, although we have called ahead and they will split checks as needed.

Day on the North Shore (optional)
        Details to be determined.

Joseph and I will meet with our photographer for some sunset shots late in the day, so we decided since it's a drive, we'll just make a day of it. Maybe we can all meet up at Anini Beach or something? Check back for more details and information.

     Day of Adventure!  - 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (no-host)
Kayak Wailua River & Hike to the Uluwehi Falls

The Wailua River is the most popular river due to its central location.  It is only about 5 minutes from the Coconut Plantation Marketplace and Plantation Hale.  It is an adventure well suited for the entire family, as well as a single visitor. The scenery is magnificent; there is a waterfall that you can hike to if you wish, and a rope swing along the way. Most rentals will provide you a cooler and a good map, but you must provide the ice, drink, and sandwiches. It can be a relaxing way to spend a day on your vacation. A leisurely, two and a half mile paddle up the Wailua River past an ancient
Hawaiian Village will bring you to a fork in the river, where you will beach your kayak. The jungle trail begins... a fairly easy walk through a tropical rainforest about a one mile hike will bring you to Uluwehi Falls, a 90 ft waterfall also known as Secret Falls. This is a safe family adventure, guaranteed to put smiles on everyone.  The Wailua River is 5 miles round trip and will take you about 2.5 hours even adding a few stops for hiking.

More information on who to book with will be posted (still doing our research for the best deal!)  We are leaning towards a non-guided kayak rental, which will be approximately $24-30 per person.  You will need to bring a swimsuit, fast-drying shorts & t shirt, windbreaker or light rain coat, footwear with aggressive tread for muddy conditions (example: sport type sandals with heelstraps or aqua socks with tread), sunscreen, hat, bug spray, food and drinks.
